What's SUSHI!?!?

◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎

SUSHI is one of the famous japanese food, which is raw fish on vinegared rice.
We've enjoyed eating it from Edo period.

The kanji for SUSHI is below,

We have two patterns of kanji for it.

The left one has two characters, which means (congratulations, best wishes, long life) and (to rule, to govern).

The right one has only one character,
and the left part of it means fish, and right part means tasty.

It is said that the origin of the word SUSHI is from another japanese word sushi or SUMESHI,
and its sushi is a old japanese word which means sour, and SUMESHI means vinegared rice.

◼︎NAMIDA(tears) means a wasabi, and it's japanese horseradish.
it's just like mustard, and too-much-wasabi will bring tears into our eyes.

◼︎MURASAKI(purple) means soy sauce.

◼︎ANIKI and OTOUTO(elder and younger brothers) expresses older toppings and newer/fresh toppings.

If you learn these words, you can enjoy SUSHI more!!!

Two Useful Words to enjoy SUSHI restaurant

◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎

i think,,,
if you can't understand all japanese language of SUSHI MENU, you can enjoy it.

but if you learn these two words below,
it may be useful, and it will help you!!!

i told that NAMIDA(tears) means wasabi above,
but there are another word for wasabi.
it's SABI

SABI is originally put between the topping and rice.
Unfortunataly, you might dislike the taste of SABI, and you have to make a request ‘‘SUSHI without SABI’’ for SUSHI chef.
The important word for ‘‘SUSHI without SABI’’ is SABINUKI.

When you order your SUSHI,
if you say SABINUKI for them, you can eat SUSHI without wasabi.

Manners at SUSHI RESTAURANT in JAPAN

◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎◼︎

It's my personal observation but,
there are some manners at SUSHI RESTAURANT in Japan.

No Smoking, No Perfume
SUSHI is delicate food, and we enjoy tasting good smell of the food.

No Leaving
To enjoy its real taste, we should eat it as soon as possible.

Do Not Dip in Soy Sauce Too Much
We can enjoy SUSHI with soy sauce, but if you dip too much, you will lose the real taste of it.
and if you dip rice-side in soy sauce, it will be falled into pieces,
so you should dip topping-side in it.

No Separating
one of its attraction is the harmony of toppings and rice, and you should eat it at one time.
Plz eat SUSHI in one bite, if you can.

im grad if you understand SUSHI :)

The world of SUSHI is deeeeeep.
if there is a request for more information about it, i'll write another post.

thx for reading.
if you like this post, plz share it.
